Sometimes things start in the most amazing way. Take the Casio watch company, for example. If you were asked to guess what the first product manufactured by Casio was, you may think it was the calculator or some other type of electronic product. You would be wrong The Casio Company was founded in 1946 by Tadao Kashio. Understand that this was in Japan after World War II. The financial situation was serious in Japan at the time, to say the least. When Mr. Kashio started his company, he was a manufacturing engineer hoping to take a great break.
His great opportunity was presented in a very unique way. Tadao Kashio developed a product called yubiwa pipe. In the impoverished Japan of the time, cigarettes were a hot product and the product was an overwhelming success. The Yubiwa pipe is very far from the calculators and the clocks they were going to follow, but the company did start on the road to success.
As it is obvious that Mr. Kashio was an inventive man, it only took him a little time to decide to explore different products. At the business fair in Ginza, Japan, in 1949, he discovered electronic calculators. With the proceeds from the sale of yubiwa pipes, Mr. Kashio and his brothers began experimenting with their own calculators. At that time, most calculators were running by using gears. With diligence and hard work, Casio Company took out the first calculator to use solenoids. The new type of calculator went on sale in 1954. This calculator was also the first to have the 10-digit keypad and only had one display window compared to that of competitors that had three.
Digital and Analog Style Casio Watches
As you well know, calculators were not the only product manufactured by Casio. After the launch of the Model 14-A calculator, many more products were designed and launched to the general public. The same year as the 14-A launch, the company also became Casio Computer Co., Inc. This is the time when Casio watches left their mark on the watch industry. Casio has been known for the great variety and innovation of its watches almost since the beginning of production. They were one of the first watch companies to manufacture the now famous quartz Casio watches.
The quartz watches produced by Casio were available in both digital and analog style. It is possible that the most remembered clock produced by this company was the calculator clock. For those of you who don’t remember, it featured all the incredible timing capabilities of normal Casio watches, with an additional feature. It had a small calculator complete with a miniature keyboard built into the clock. During its heyday it was the ruin of math teachers everywhere and the savior of every student with math deficiency.
Design of a casio watch
Considering that the calculator’s clock was very funny, Casio continued raising the bar. This company was also the first to design and produce a watch that could provide its owner with some interesting details. One of these clocks could show the time of many different time zones at the touch of a button. Others were equipped to give weather details such as temperature and barometric pressure. Mountaineers of past times particularly appreciated the version that came with an indicator to indicate altitude.
With the true fans of the world’s devices in mind, Casio devised a watch just for them. It is the line of Casio watches. They really got over this. These clocks are equipped to receive radio signals that allow the watch to keep the exact time. They can also tell the time in different time zones, the user can set alarms and timers. This line of watches also comes with an incredibly extensive user manual to provide all necessary instructions to the owner.
